Helping a Blogger Out
A few days ago, I wrote about my dilemma with Internet Explorer and how my site is viewed in that dreaded browser. Because I still know very little about coding, I thought I’d put up an open invitation for anyone who knows code, to try and fix the site so it looks right in IE along with the other browsers.
I never know what to expect when I write a post like this. I’ve done it a few times before and have gotten no responses, but I figured it would be worth a try because since the last time, my readership has increased. Not only that, but most of the readers of my blog are designers of some sort, and know more code that I do.
This time, I got a response from a fairly new reader, Douglas T. Douglas is a graphic designer from Virginia and he dug into the code of my site and was generous enough to recode the site to not only be viewed correctly in Internet Explorer, but also make it easier for me to change and edit things. I spend some time today, implementing his code into my design and learned a few new things about CSS as well as learning that I don’t know as much as I thought!
For the most part, every page of the site now features the new coding, although there are still some things I need to work out and clean up, but I now know how to make those changes. I’ve also noticed that the site seems to load faster, and overall, just run more smoothly.
A huge thanks goes to Douglas for helping me out, there is no way I would have been able to do it myself. I believe this just shows the power of the blogging community and how we can help each other out.
