Macro Photography
I've always wanted to try macro photography. For those not up to date with photo terms, macro is where you take a picture of something that is only two to three inches away, capturing the detail of the object and blurring the background, making the object stand out even more.
I knew my camera had a macro function, and I knew how to turn it on, but just today, I began mastering the technique of shooting macro photography. Before, I'd turn the function on, but would hold the camera too close (or too far away for that matter) and was unable to get a clear picture, capturing the details. As I was experiementing today, I was able to get quite a few clear macro shots. Here are three of my favorites:

In my opinion, the middle one of the leaf, turned out the best. You can see all the details, lines, and veins very clearly and the background is blurred. The bottom picture, which is the Newsboys section in my Encyclepedia of Contemporary Christian Music also turned out really cool. I like the way the border is blurred, but the middle is very clear. My mom said it would be cool if you did that with a Bible verse, which I might try soon.
If you want to see the rest of my Macro shots, I uploaded them all into my new Flickr set, Macro.

The ring would look really cool as a background for powerpoint slides for worship.
That's a great idea. Feel free to use if you'd like. Just let me know if you are going to use it.
